Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya (1408-1503) the saint composer of the 15th century is the earliest known musician of India to compose 32k songs called “sankIrtanas” in praise of Lord Venkateswara.Lord Vishnu manifested Himself as Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala Hills to protect the Dharma from decay in the Current Age (Kali Yuga). Annamacharya was born as the incarnation of Hari Nandakam(sword)
to promote Dharma through his powerful Sankirtanas (devotional songs).

There is a particular variety of song in folk literature which ends with the word "koogoogu". in Kannada language Koogu means calling somebody. Koogoogu is a compound word which means, when we call a person, he tries to hide himself, tries to slip away."Do buchi" is another word which is also used to mean almost the same thing. Introduction to the Keerthana Deho devalayo prokto ~ Jeevo deva sanatanah - Dehame Devalayam ~ jeevude daivam This sankeertana is an enlargement of this concept. It is said that each soul is potentially divine and each living being can be as much pure as it could be! The keerthana is an elaboration of a devotee who have constructed the Almighty in himself and visualises the Lord in close proximity in every activity he undertakes. The devotee is performing 'Nithyapuja' (a daily routine prayer) by undertaking his daily chores. He is thus visualising and conceptualising the Lord in each and every such activity. The summary is that 'when I perform this nityapooja, whatelse should I do?!' Whoelse but a matured and seasoned devotee envisages all this! The meaning of the song herein is expressed in the first person, for more clarity. Meaning of the Sankeerthana I learnt these daily routines (prayer) wherein and whereby I conceptualise the allpervading Almighty in myself! My body is the sacred temple, my head is the sikharam (the peak/vimanam). My large heart is the sanctum sanctorium that could seat the Larger Lord! Introduction to the Keerthana
This sankeerthana is in the form of Lord Hanuman's samvadam with Lord Rama when the former, having been successful on Sita-finding-mission to Lanka and returned, explains the latter the details of the anecdote and what went after! Annamacharya assumes himself as Hanuman who exchanges Rama's finger-ring with Sita's sirasu manikyam, an ornament for hair that Rama presented to Sita. The beauty (and melody) of this keerthana is enhanced with Annama's admirable tact that intertwines rhythmic words to form a charming garland.
Meaning of the Keerthana
Oh Rama, this is the shirasu manikyam that was given to me by Sita! At an opportune moment, I was able to bring it here; please have a glance at it. Oh Rama, I witnessed Her, having lost your company, She was just chanting Rama Nama, as Rama... Rama...; whence I recognised that Lady to be Sita and handed over Your ring to Her. Oh Rama, the protector of Kamalakshi, the one whose eyes resemble a Lotus, Your Sita just brings forth Her memories with You and prays to reach Your Lotus Feet. Having found Her, I could recite Your legendary story before her and conveyed your wellness! Oh Rama, the son of Dasaratha, You have to kill the dasasira, the one with ten heads (Ravana) and protect Sita (appelled here as Shashimukhi, the one whose face glows like moon) who is in Ravana's captivity, whereby appreciation pours in from ten sides! Sri Venkata, Raghauveera, the amour of Sita, You have Her by your side, everything will be fine then!!

Meaning : P:This day to day (nAnATi) life (batuku) is a drama (nATakamu) What is to not seen clearly (kAnaka kannadi exactly means something which is seen yet not seen; for instance an object at a far off distance) is liberation/salvation (kaivalyamu) C1:To be born (puTTuTayu) is truth (nijamu), to die (pOvuTayu literal meaning is to go; to leave) is truth. All the work (pani) in between these two (naTTanaDimi) is a drama. That which is right in front (yeTTa neduTagaladI) is the world (prapaNcamu). That which is the ultimate last (kaTTakaDapaTidi) is liberation. C2:To partake/relish (kuDicEdi) rice/food (annamu), to wrap around (cuTTeDidi) a cloth/saree (kOka), this conjured-in-the-middle (naDamantrapu) work (pani) is a drama. When one crosses beyond (gaDidATinapuDE) the above mentioned dual duties (vubhayakarmulu) only then there is liberation. C3:There is no break (tegadu literally means it doesn't cut/snap like for instance to say a rope doesn't cut) to sin (pApamu). There is never completion (tIradu) to good/holiness (puNyamu). All this laughing (and also laughable) (nagi nagi) time (kAlamu) is a drama. Above (yeguvane literally means at a higher place) there is only ONE VenkaTEShvara. That which is even beyond (mIdidi means one which is above; here in percepetion) the sky (gaganamu) is liberation.
